The German - Israeli duo Apollonio Maiello (piano & harpsichord) and Tali Rubinstein (recorders) is an ensemble which challenges the borders between early music and the music of the 21st century. Both accomplished performers and composers, Rubinstein and Maiello revive the aesthetic of the Baroque era by using historical instruments to play original tunes, composed by Maiello. The improvisational passages - sometimes meditatively thoughtful, other times rhythmically articulate - create a counterpoint to the composed and notated structures.
